Editorial Services
Whether you’re a publisher looking for experienced editorial support or a writer seeking guidance on a manuscript, I offer practical, thoughtful advice at every stage of the publishing process.
I bring both an editor’s eye and a publisher’s perspective to every project. I understand what makes a manuscript work, what publishers are looking for, and how to help writers strengthen their work while retaining the voice and qualities that make it uniquely theirs.
I work across picture books, junior and middle-grade fiction, young adult fiction and children’s nonfiction, working with publishers including Walker Books, Thames & Hudson, Berbay Books and CSIRO Publishing, as well as directly with individual authors and illustrators.
What I offer
Manuscript assessments
A detailed and constructive appraisal of your manuscript, with practical feedback to help you move forward.
Structural and copy editing
Support to strengthen your story, structure, character and voice. My approach is collaborative and sensitive to the writer’s voice: the aim is always to make the manuscript the best version of itself, rather than turn it into something it isn’t.
Project management
For publishers and other organisations, I can manage projects from concept to completion, coordinating authors, illustrators, designers and other contributors and keeping the many moving parts of a publishing project on track.
One-on-one consultations
Personalised sessions (in person or online) to discuss your project, answer questions and provide tailored advice.
Teacher notes
Engaging, curriculum-relevant teacher notes and creative ideas to support classroom use and enrich the reading experience.
